As soon as there is a sufficient amount of
your child's tooth surface showing, their teeth should be cleaned at least
once a day.
The following points are a guideline to correct brushing of your baby's
teeth
-
Before Brushing, cradle your baby's
head in your arms in front of you
-
When the teeth first break through, it
is often easier to use a soft silicone finger toothbrush
-
As the teeth begin to develop, move
them on to a small, soft nylon baby toothbrush.
-
Using a small, pea-sized amount of
children's toothpaste, massage it around your baby's gums and
teeth.
-
As soon as your toddler wants to clean
his own teeth let him or her have a go! Teach him/her to brush up and
down, rather than from side to side, but, remember that you will need
to continue finishing off the brushing process until the child is
about seven years old, as children do not have the manual dexterity to
clean their teeth thoroughly.
